Maritime conference May 03, 2016 The African Union Extraordinary Summit on Maritime Security and Safety and Development in Africa will take place in Lomé, Togo, on 15 October 2016. It will be attended by the heads of state and government of the 54 African countries, which are members of the African Union. The aim of the conference is to make the maritime sector the key driver of Africa’s economic and social development. The African Union Foundation will participate at the conference. The Foundation aims to ensure that young people are given the opportunity to participate in the maritime sector, harnessing the potential of Africa’s future generations in the preservation and sustainable use of African resources.
